20 Months (and 3 weeks)

Savannah Marie is 20 months old!

Savannah LOVES:
Coloring (she calls it cul)
Sidewalk Chalk
the Moon
Dogs
Bubbles (still loves bubbles!)

Shoes- She has started putting on mommy's shoes and walking around. She is especially good at putting on my flip flops and is oh so patient to get her little toes in the right position.

Savannah loves grapes. She also loves muffins. She has entered a phase where she will grab my dinner plate, pull it over to her and eat whatever she thinks looks good. Last night Dave made chicken, rice and sauteed strips of yellow and red bell pepper. She ate at least 4 strips of red bell pepper. She also loved the rice. It was a mess, but it was worth it to see how much she enjoyed it..

Savannah wears size 4 diapers. And sometimes I feel like they are already getting a little small, even though we just transitioned to the 4's during the day within the last month.

At one point this month, she weighed 24 lbs on our home scale. Usually she weighs 22 lbs on our home scale. When she got her flu shot on September 20, she weighed 22 lbs 3 oz at Dr. Raley's.

Savannah wears 18 month clothes for the most part. Some of her pants are still 12 month due to her little waist. I have hung up her 24 month pjs, which I think we'll be going to shortly because her feet are completely filling out the 18 month pjs.

For the most part, Savannah is wearing size 6 shoes, although there are a couple of pairs of 5's we can still squeeze into.

Savannah loves spiders. I attribute this to the song "Itsy Bitsy Spider," and her favorite Pete the Cat books from the library which features the Itsy Bitsy spider. Dave and I refer to spiders as itsy bitsies :)

Her words include:
Book
Bike
Bottle
Bird
Boom
Bow
Bar
Ball
Bear

Non-B words:
Mom
Dad
Nay-Nay (for no)
Car

In addition to her words from my last blog post, she has added:
Cul (for color)
Muf (for Muffin)
Clap Clap
Moon
Teeth (Teef)
Rice (new as of last night)
Rock and Roll (I don't know if anyone else could understand her saying this, but it cracks us up. It all started one night with some classic rock in the car.)
Oh no (from Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons)
Pop! (also from Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons)
Pee
Poo (this refers to fecal matter as well as shampoo)

Potty - On October 14, Savannah went pee on the potty!!! I bought her a toilet seat to put on top of ours about a month ago. She has sat on it a few times and just tried it out. She loves unrolling toilet paper. So lately I've told her that's only for wiping after you go potty. For about 2 weeks after her bath, she grabs herself and says "pee." Usually I put her diaper on her as fast as I can, and shortly after she urinates. But the other night, she said pee and pointed to the potty. I put her on there, and she actually went! It was amazing. At this point, we're hoping to wait till Christmas week to do the real deal potty training.

Savannah no longer turns the tub on constantly :) Huge improvement since last blog post. She has also learned to let the water out when I ask her to. It was a challenge for her to use her fingers to pull up on the stopper.

Last night, Savannah spent 15 minutes trying to put her pjs on herself. She LOVES zippers. She also tries to put her diaper on herself when I'm changing her. She doesn't seem to give her dad as hard a time as she gives me. She has also started telling me "no, no, no." It's kinda strange, as she doesn't say this to dad. I don't know if this is a glimpse into her teenage years or what.

She really likes to brush her teeth. This gives her access to another faucet - the sink.

She still likes her Minnie Mouse Ride-On airplane, although she is too big to ride it. She enjoys pushing it around. (This is still true!) Dave caught her standing on the seat of the Minnie Mouse airplane in the kitchen once. She is getting brave, and it's scary.

She likes to drink out of regular cups with assistance.

Savannah is still nursing before bed and most of the time in the middle of the night. I had to travel again for work last week and missed 3 nights with her, due to a late flight. I always wonder when I come back if she will still nurse. But she latched on right away. I plan on letting her nurse till she decides she is done.

She sleeps through the night once out of every 3-4 nights, but most of the time, she still wakes up for a cuddle and nursing session with mommy.

Savannah is still working on jumping. And now she is interested in skipping!

Savannah sings alot. And she has this mini routine that I don't know whether she has learned at school or if she made it up herself. It usually starts with clap, clap, clap. She twirls around, she flaps her hands like a bird. She also holds her arms in front of her and swings back and forth. Sometimes she turns around and back around.

This month Savannah learned how to walk backwards. She was walking really really slow at Ray Harrell one afternoon. So we tried walking backwards. It was adorable, and she loved it.

Savannah started going to Park Preschool the first week of September. She is one of five little girls in the Lambs class. She has never cried when we leave her. I was only there on the first day, but Dave says she always goes right in and starts playing. For the most part, from what we can tell, the girls are still playing independent for most of the day. Ms Judy says they are starting to interact more and more. Savannah brings home really cute artwork. I think school has added to her love of coloring. She is also the only little girl that poops every day at school. Random, but I think it's a good thing. They only get about 1-1.5 hours of sleep at school. So on her school days, she still usually takes a second nap at home.

Savannah, you are a bright light in me and daddy's world. You are Funny, Sweet, Helpful, Independent, Super Strong, Bright, Curious and full of LOVE. May God continue to bless you with all of those personality traits.
